Fishing is an increasingly popular form of leisure activities in Poland. Historically, only men went to the fish. Nowadays, women just as happy to ride on the fish. Fish can catch both young and older people.

FISHING NEWS: 51.65 Striped Bass Caught by Steve Dodson Wins the MSSA Chesapeake Bay Fall Classic Fishing Tournament

Published on 11-21-2011 10:46 AM

This weekend culminated the last of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay 2011 striped bass fishing tournaments with the 19th Annual Maryland Saltwater Sportsman's Association (MSSA) Rockfish Fall Classic. The weather man predicted low winds, however mother nature did not seem to agree and anglers found a little more wind then predicted. This presented some challenges for the much smaller boats, but all and all everyone was able to get out and safely catch some rockfish.
The tournament had over 250 boats entered and paid out a whopping $91,050. First place went to Steve Dodson of the All Tackle 22 Team with a 51.65lb rockfish that landed him a sweet pay day of $21,875. Second place went to Andrew Turner and Lee Tippett who weighted in a 42.45 lb. rockfish and took home $13,125. Third place went to John Patchette with a 41.5lb rockfish which landed him $8,750.
The kicker to any fishing tournament is the payout potential depending on what and how how many calcuttas anglers enter. This year Andrew Tuner and Lee Tippet made the big bet entering all the calcuttas and it paid off. Their second place rockfish brought them a huge payday of

MARYLAND FISHING REPORT Chesapeake Bay, Inshore and Offshore Fishing: Updated September 19, 2011

Maryland Fishing Reports sponsored by Solomon's Charter Captain's Association. Book a trip and catch BIG striped bass here.
Rain rain go away are the words coming from Maryland fishermen over the last few weeks. Between all the run off and high winds anglers have had a hard time catching a break. The water in the upper bay to the Bay Bridge and below is a mess, debris everywhere and the water the color of chocolate milk. The debris and ugly water extends below the Choptank River, however reports are that in Maryland's lower Chesapeake the water is pretty clear. How long that will hold with more rain and the mess working its way down the bay

SALTWATER FISHING: Light Tackle Fishing for Striped Bass Part 6 - Fishing Knots

By Brandon White
So far in this series we’ve covered a high level overview of light tackle fishing for striped bass, in Parts 2 and 3 we went into detail about light tackle spinning and bait-casting rods, in part 4 and 5 we covered spinning and bait-casting reels. We’re almost ready to get out on the water and talk about where we look to find striped bass, but before we do that we need to cover knots and then once we know how to attach lures to the line and join leaders, we’ll talk about lures and then we’re going striped bass fishing.
There are many different fishing knots to choose from, all of which have

RIGGING AND FISHING KNOTS: Small Offshore Fishing Boat Fishermen Can Even up the Odds Against the Big Sportfishers with Teasers

By Lenny Rudow. Does it seem like the big sportfishers always come back to the dock with more fish than the small, trailerable boats have in the box? Sure it does—those guys on the 50-footers have some serious advantages over you and I in our center console and cuddy cabin boats. But that doesn’t mean you can’t hang with the big dogs when you’re hunting tuna, billfish and other pelagics. Modern teasers give the little guy the ability to draw in fish just like the diesel boats, if you know which to run, when to run them, and how to use them to

FLY FISHING: How to Get Started Fly Fishing for Striped Bass

by Brandon C. White
I always look forward to Fall in the Chesapeake Bay region so that I can hunt the big Stripers that swim through out the Chesapeake and Mid Atlantic with the fly rod. Often times when I talk to anglers and mention the big striped bass that we catch this time of year they always appear amazed when they ask how we caught them and I explain that we caught them on the fly rod. When I tell them they can do it too and show them the flies they

NORTHEAST FISHING REPORTS: updated June 12, 2011

Fishing from Maine to New Jersey is increasingly heating up with each passing day. Striped bass are making their way up the coast and we have a report from Maine this week with some hot striper action. New York striper fishing on the flats and bays has been wide open. The Rhode Island area is waiting on the arrival of the squid which should happen any day. Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard striper fishing has been excellent as well. Tuna fishing in New Jersey and New York has been sweet when anglers have been able to make it out. Did you know striped bass eat turtles? Capt. Dave Blinken from North Flats Guiding found that out this week with a picture to prove it. Check the full northeast fishing report for all the details.

KAYAK FISHING: How to Get the New Kayak Rigged - Part 2

By Mark Lozier
In part 1 of this kayak fishing article series I covered the three styles of kayaks available to the angler. The only other consideration would be whether you wanted an alternative propulsion method. Several boats on the market now come available with a “peddling” type of system to move the kayak. These are great for keeping your hands basically free to fish and can help you cover a lot of water quicker with less fatigue because now you are using the largest muscles in your body, your legs. It is a good

BOATING: Winterize Your Boat

by Lenny Rudow
Awww, shucks! Winter’s closing in, and you need to safely stow your fishing machine for the season. Bummer. But make sure you do this job, and get it done right. Otherwise, when spring rolls around you might be spending your cash on big repair bills, instead of umbrella rigs and trolling rods.
ENGINES – Obviously, the engine is the most important part of any boat to winterize. If you have an outboard, you’re lucky: simply tilt it down and it’ll drain completely. There is NO NEED to run anti-freeze through an outboard, and any yard that says different is

FISHING TACKLE GEAR NEWS and REVIEWS: The Return of The Dixie Jet Fishing Lure

Before my time in the 1960's and just about when I could walk in the 1970's the Dixie Jet Spoon™ became a legendary lure because of its ability to catch fish from the clear waters of ponds, lakes, streams and oceans. But, for whatever reason the original manufacturer stopped producing this fish catching lure in the 70's, creating a void that forced anglers and collectors to search throughout North America, paying up to $100 for the few remaining Dixie Jets that can be found if you keep a good eye on
